My Current Podcast Obsessions

Do you listen to podcasts? I’ve never been one for those or audiobooks. I’ve always preferred to listen to music in the car and, if I’m at home, watch TV.

True Crime Stories

Doctor Death:

A month ago, I was at my waxing appointment when my esthetician told me about this podcast she had become addicted to: Dr. Death. Follow along as reporter and host Laura Beil unravels the tale of one of the nation’s most damaging doctors, Dr. Christopher Duntsch. Christopher Duntsch was a neurosurgeon in Dallas, TX. Hundreds of patients went in to his surgery room with back pain, 33 patients left with even more severe issues. We’re talking numbness, paralysis, and even death! Ms. Beil investigates why Dr. Duntsch was able to get as far as he did in the medical system, and if justice was ever served.

Up and Vanished:

Filmmaker Payne Lindsey stumbled across this unsolved missing person case while browsing the internet for inspiration for his next film. Season 1 of Up and Vanished focuses on the unsolved case of Tara Grinstead, a Georgia beauty queen and high school teacher who vanished from her home in 2005. The cold case was the largest case file in the Georgia Bureau of Investigations history. Eleven years from when the podcast began in 2016 there had been no arrests. Lindsey investigates the crime through interviews, document research, and even physical location searches. I’m almost done with season 1, and trying to hurry up and finish before the television premiere of an “Up and Vanished” TV special on the Oxygen channel on November 18th!

Pop/ Celebrity News:

Kickin’ Back with Kelly

I was browsing one of the Facebook groups one day when I came across Kelly promoting her new podcast, Kickin’ Back with Kelly that focused on interviewing fellow influencers and celebrities. When I saw that her first interview was with Real Housewives of New Jersey star Dolores Catania, I knew I had to check it out. I love that the conversation just kind of flows between her and her guests, a testament to her many years in the journalism industry. Truthfully, it took me a second to get past her voice, but when I did, I rather enjoyed her commentary and the guests she had on. It’s a mindless, fun way to distract yourself from real-world problems.

Mindset/ Boss Babe:

Blissful Living

Oddly enough, Alshina Kaposta’s voice is like a warm blanket. She speaks in such a calming and soothing tone that you pretty much feel like she’s giving you a hug when she’s giving you advice. I began following Ashlina’s blog, The Decorista, a couple of years ago. Recently she gave birth to a baby boy and has since had little time to blog, however, she decided to create a podcast during baby’s nap time. Along came Blissful Living. She created this podcast as an outlet to discuss the art of living a harmonious, holistic life, and provides great tips on how to cultivate a happy home and a happy heart starting with being mindful of one’s self and one’s surroundings. After listening to her quick episodes, I instantly feel calmer.

I’ll continue to update this list with podcasts I come across and enjoy. Please drop your favorite ones in the comments below. I’d love to check them out & possibly add them to the list!
